The Impressive Mountain Church in Nha Trang City

Located at a height of 12 high in the heart of Nha Trang City, the Mountain Church is an attraction to many visitors,film-makers and photographers.  Mountain Church is a beautiful church which was built in architecture of the France style.

The Mountain Church (official name is  King Cathedral) has some other name such as stone church (because it was built by stone) or Nha Trang church (because the church was belong to Nha Trang Christian people) but the popular name is Mountain Church (In Vietnamese is Nhà Thờ Núi).

The construction Mountain Church was started on Sept 3 , 1928 on a small mountain, just about 12 meter high. About 500 bombs were used to flatten this mountain. Priest Louis Vallet ( 1869 – 1945) devoted his effort to built the church.

On Easter of 1929, the road for cars to church was open.

June 1929 , the path for pedestrian at the North of Church was complete. Afterward, the other works were also
brought into services such as kitchen, store, guest room, steps, etc .

On Mar 1930 Church was completed. In 1945, Priest Louis Vallet passed way, his grave was lay at the foot of this mountain.



In 1969, the big clock of church was broken.

In 1978, it was fixed and continue running until now.

The Mountain Church has the impressive stone architecture with the cross on the top of bell tower, 38 meters hight from the ground.
The Mountain Church is a beautiful place for photographer and cameraman. Couples also chose this place to take wedding photos.
